Gamer’s Hideout Modern Warfare 2 Midnite Madness

Despite being moved one day earlier than the original date in such a short notice, throngs of gamers made it to Gamer’s Hideout outlet at e@Curve, Mutiara Damansara on Monday, 9th November 2009; in order to be among the first people in the country to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360.

We joined the crowd on the release night to share their enthusiasm and also, to pick one lucky reader that would received a copy of the game itself, courtesy of Gamer’s Hideout. Jump in to check out the scene..

The line!

Huss (Xbox Live ID: Huss Wuss) often camped out at most Gamer’s Hideout events but rest assured, he does not camp in-game.

The much anticipated game was released exactly on the struck of midnight, much to the joy of customers - around 150 people - whom not only has been waiting for hours at the shop but could have also been waiting since the game was officially announced in February 2009. The first three customers in the line received a Xbox 360 gamepad as a reward for their effort, while the 9th, 10th and 11th customers received a Microsoft Points reload card each as these numbers symbolized the date of the event.

That’s lotsa Prestige boxes going over the counter…

The contents of Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition came alive!

From what we observed, while most opt for the standard edition of the game, quite a number actually took home the Prestige Edition that retails for around RM 600. We didn’t ask the shop for any official figure but we estimated that more than 30 Prestige Edition were sold on that night alone.

Many has stayed on after collecting their purchase as there were yet another attraction to the launch that only happened after the sales line were cleared at 1 am. Oh yes, we are talking about the lucky draw! Two unit of the game - one standard edition for Multiplay readers and one Prestige Edition for the launch customers - was given away that night. You two lucky buggers! *grrrrr*

Well, it was yet another fun midnight launch by Gamer’s Hideout. We are sure there are more coming in the future - not only game launches, but other activities as well - so always keep a look at their official site and Facebook page for frequent updates.
