ESWC To Returns In 2010, Grand Finals at Disneyland Paris

In April 2009, the main company behind Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC), Game Services Inc., has ceased to operate due to the company’s liquidation. This pretty much brought the well established eSports event to a complete half.

Then, four months later in August 2009, the ESWC brand and couple of its internet assets was bought by one Stéphane Cosse and his company - DIP Communication, for a sum of RM 253,000 (Euros 50,000), a number that seems too “little” for such a well known eSports brand. Today, the company has announced that the ESWC is going to be revived in 2010.

First things first, the organizer has locked down the date and the venue of ESWC 2010 Grand Finals, which will be from June 30 to July 4, 2010 at Disneyland Paris in France. They also has listed out the official games for next year:

• Counter-Strike
• Counter-Strike Women
• FIFA 10
• Need for Speed SHIFT
• Street Fighter IV
• Trackmania Nations
• Virtual Tennis 2009
• Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne

DIP-Organization also said that a total of RM 677,600 (USD 200,000) in prize money will be up for grabs throughout the ESWC 2010 campaign. With the qualification slated to start from early next year, the company is currently in the process to obtain 32 previous national partners a.k.a national organizers that have been working with ESWC before the demise of Game Services.
