Multiplay Live: WCG Malaysia Championship 2009 Day 2

Welcome to the second day of WCG Malaysia Championship 2009, live from Cybertime Mega Mendung, Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur! We apologize for the slow updates from the venue…we believe that the lazy bug has just bitten us since things are relatively more laid back today as apparent from the lacking number of crowd around.

Nevertheless, the actions should be intense today as it’s a do or die day for all Team Malaysia hopefuls here. Without further a due, let’s get on to the show. Dive in!

3:00pm: Ooops, we sorry for ze late update but here it is, a number of updates for the past few hours

FIFA’09
- No shocking results so far, [T2.W|nDs] and [MyFES.INC] totally dominated the competition but still, all signs are pointing toward Si_Jali to take back his FIFA throne.
- The next scheduled matches are:
(Upper Bracket): [T2.W|nDs]Vin vs Si_Jali
(Lower Bracket): [T2.W|nDs]A13x vs [T2.W|nDs]HAN and [MyFES.INC]Killer-X vs [T2.W|nDs]Rei

Starcraft
- After ditching JohnRambo in the lower bracket yesterday, MarinE are pretty much unstoppable, chomping Renson and Cobo on the way to yet another WCG Malaysia’09 Finals.
- Meanwhile, JohnRambo is progressing very well in the lower bracket. He conquered all challenges by AFM, Renson and DuskBin.Ash for spot in the finals.
- With that, the next scheduled match would be between johnrambo and Cobo whereby the winner will eventually meet MarinE in the finals.

Warcraft 3:
- As expected, Ct-Serry booked a place in the finals by sending Tank Liew into the lower brackets.
- As for SiN[Pin.2C], he fought well against Swk.HungJen and will meet Tank Liew in the next match.

3:15PM: Our friends at Spotgamers has posted the tournament brackets and they are being updated accordingly. Check them out for a more through details on the tournament progress.

3:19pm: We are also currently working on Day 1 recap + photos. Since we got back pretty late last night, our robot writing machine fell asleep on his working table working on the recap and refuse to wake up. So, hang on tight there while we sort it out.

3:33pm: We got confirmation from the Warcraft 3 area that Pin was victorious against Tank Liew and will meet Serry in what to be another repeat of last year’s finals. The match will start in few minutes time and they are going to show it on the big screen outside too.

On the other side of Cybertime, the atmosphere is a little bit intense in the FIFA’09 section as Vin and Si_Jali is currently going through a very tough match. The first match has just concluded with both of them tied at 1-1.

3:33pm: With so many war cries in between, it is hard to keep track who’s scoring but the final result says it all - Si_Jali won the second match with a 3-2 score, a very close game. With that, Vin have to fight back to finals through the lower bracket. His opponent will be either A13x or Rei which are also his clanmates.

3:50pm:: In case you wondering, no, we haven’t forgot DoTA yet. All the matches has concluded except for one last match. It is the finals between IG.Shizuma pro and the home team, Cybertime 2.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Runner Up winner goes to NT.Gaming. The team has pretty good run in the tournament until they were thrown into lower bracket by Cybertime 2 and didn’t managed to stop Shizuma pro progress to finals.

4:01pm: Pin has won the first match! The match was over quite fast, as if it was too easy for Pin. Both players are taking a break now, so next game should start any minute now.

Meanwhile, as for another WCG Malaysia exhibition game, SDO-X, they are really taking things very-very slowly. They haven’t start anything yet for now.

4:06pm: Back to FIFA’09, Rei has just won the first match against A13x with a 3 - 0 score. Let’s see whether Rei can take this home.

In Starcraft, johnrambo and cobo has just finished their first match with the advantage goes to john. Second match has already started.

As for Warcraft, Serry has leveled up the finals score against Pin. The third match has already started and it is all or nothing for both of them.

4:22pm: Rei and Al3x FIFA’09 second match has concluded with the upperhand goes to Rei. We also received a news that John has won the second match against cobo. This means John is going to the finals against MarinE again as per WCG Malaysia 2008!

4:25pm: Looks like we already have the champion for Warcraft 3! Serry took the third and final match away from Pin, repeating the same triumph he did last year in Mid Valley. Congrats!

Just behind us, the SDO-X folks has finally started their semis. As per usual, it’s a 6-way battle from start till end. Lots of button pressing.

4:43pm: FIFA’s lower bracket finals between Vin and Rei has gone into the second match. Although Rei leads at first in the first game, Vin got away with a victory on his hand with the score 2 - 1.

5:00pm: Stacraft grand finals has just kicked off. MarinE has one game advantage and with johnrambo clearly has shown some fatigue, nobody know how this match going to fare. Two of the country’s best, but only one can represent Malaysia to Chengdu.

In FIFA, Vin has booked a place in the finals against Si_Jali. We also got a news from our good DoTA friend, Underminer, that Shizuma pro has won the first match. Since the team came from lower bracket, second match against top contender Cybertime 2 is now taking place.

5:25pm: FIFA finals 1st match has just concluded with a score of… 0 - 0. Tough cookie. Despite being so busy with FIFA Online 2, looks like Vin FIFA’09 skills still remain intact. Same goes for Si_Jali who didn’t join any tournament after his lost to [MyFES.INC]siLDes in WCG Malaysia 2008.

5:43pm OMG, it’s so epic in here! Vin has won the match, 4 - 3 and that gave him another set of matches with Si_Jali due to their bracket differences. In Starcraft, the match between John and MarinE are still going, both are still going strong. Things are not far different with SDO-X too, as two players have to go through a number of rematches since their score are identical.

6:03pm: Wow, Vin is really on form today, giving a run for Si_Jali’s chances at the championship. The 1st match of the decider set ended with Vin totaled over Jali with a 5 - 2 score. We guess Jali no longer facing a mountain, he’s now facing the Mt. Everest for all we know.

6:12pm: Ohh, what do you know, we got the list of SDO-X winners and they are:

Champion: Joezy
1st Runner Up: [rOx]^EQ
2nd Runner Up: WinterMeloDy

The finals for DoTA has also reached its conclusion with Cybertime 2 managed to stopped Shizuma Pro, just one last round short of their first ever championship title. It is also the end of Si_Jali comeback attempt as Vin is now confirmed to represent Malaysia at Chengdu for FIFA’09, even though he lost to his opponent 1 - 2.

6:57pm: Believe or not, the Starcraft finals is still going on. Since John has won the first set of the game, the match have to be decided with another set of game. Just as per the first set, John manages to bring MarinE further into third match of the second set.

7:26pm: Starcraft finals is over! MarinE finally managed to be victorious over John after sixth tries. It was a very close and intense game until the very last click.
