Sorry, No Price Cut For Wii Says Nintendo
September 18, 2009 by Chapree

After a huge price drop by Sony and Microsoft on their current gen consoles, the pressure is now high on Nintendo to do the same thing for its Wii. Rumors already rampant that the Japanese company will actually drop their highly succesful console from RM 866 (USD 249) to RM 690 (USD 199). Plus, with the leaflet leak from an American [sauce of Kotaku origin], the Wii price drop looks very-very inevitable.
However, Nintendo still refuse to admit the price drop officially. According to a Nintendo rep in a conversation with the UK-based CVG:
We currently have no plans to cut the price of Wii. Current talk of price cuts is rumour and speculation.
The average retail price of Wii in our country is already (slightly) under RM 1000 - way cheaper compared to the launch price, so we don’t expect that this price drop (if it happens) will affect the market much. Nevertheless, we still hope it is going to happen though. Who doesn’t want cheaper price tag, right?
