Refreshing Revival: CoD 4 Tourney By ESPGL

After a rather mundane period for the past few month without much large scale tournament, the local Call of Duty 4 scene received a much need refresher on 15th August 2009. It was the day of ESPGL’s Revival: CoD 4 Tournament which attracted over 22 team including those from Indonesia and Singapore to Tbun Aman Suria, PJ for the event.

With the support from New Era, Razer and Tbun Network Internet Cafe as sponsors, the tournament ran continuously throughout the day from 9:30am till 10pm. The long (fun) hours is a direct result from the best out of 3 games format that were implemented into this 32-bracket single elimination event.

Common enemies from two countries - ESP.Bz and JEDI - met once again the finals of the event. However, the path for ESP.Bz was harder though compared to their opponent - they drew in the first game of the first round match against XIII Rage and in the second round, they were forced into a decider round by Coop.Night.

Meanwhile, JEDI won all their matches prior to the finals but lost out to the Malaysians in a nail-biter three match battle with 2 - 3 aggregate. 2nd Runner Up went to SWL.aBuse whom also have to went through similar three match against ESP.neMesis before they can claim their prizes. The Revival tournament was indeed a huge success in its own right. According to ESPGL’s Coordinator, Gary “bliss” Heng, more events will be held very-very soon to keep the momentum going on. No dates are confirmed yet though, so…how soon is soon, eh?
