PES 2010 To Return To Its Simulation Root

PES 2010
FIFA trying to get over PES? Messi disapproved.

When the Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (or Winning Eleven), it received some criticism from many of PES long time fans about its arcade-like gameplay. Not to mention that its long-time rival, EA Sports’ FIFA series has been improving the quality of their releases.

Well, Konami is about to change that according to its European PES Team Leader, Jon Murphy:

“People want their football game to mix playability with realism, and that is a fine line to walk. PES 2010 sees a real return to the simulation roots of the series, with more considered pace, and more emphasis on positional play and passing movement.

The PES fanbase is thankfully very vociferous in their PES tastes, and has proved essential in the development of the new game. Everything from the way nets bulge to the goalkeepers’ gloves has come under scrutiny, and all feedback has been shown to Japan who have met many of the requests in the new 2010 edition. It’s the return of the king.” - Konami’s European PES Team Leader, Jon Murphy

We loves how Murphy ends his statement - “It’s the return of the king,”. Alright Konami, let’s see whether you can pull this off this coming October. We are waiting with our (virtual) boots on the field.

How hilarious that Murphy thinks that players criticising the arcade gameplay will be concerned with how nets bulge or goalies gloves. I promise you that no-one I know moved to FIFA due to minor aesthetics. We all did it because it simply plays more like real football. Keep it simple Seabass, that’s what made you king before you go so fat the crown didn’t fit.

Yeah, that’s what I thought too. I personally got this one theory that FIFA is becoming like the older PES path while PES is going the other way around.
