BioShock

Around mid-2008, Universal Pictures signed a deal with Take-Two Interactive, to produce live action adaptation of BioShock, the game studio’s hit sci-fi FPS. But the Hollywood studio has now halted the production, as a result of rising budget concern.

The movie, whichto be directed by Gore Verbinski (of Pirates of The Caribbean fame) and currently in pre-production stages, was supposed to be filmed in Los Angeles but then as the budget has now risen up to RM 575.5 million (US$ 160 million), Universal asked the film’s production to consider several moves to tone down the cost.

One of the moves that they already considered is shifting the film location outside States - London has been stated as one of the probable city. Also, some of the production staff has been let go as early remedy to the budget problem. Both Universal and Verbinski are still looking into the problem which until it’s settled, the film will remain on hold.

At the very least, they did vowed that they would never ever canceled the movie’s production, as per what happened to live adaption of Microsoft’s Halo that was scraped after Universal and Fox can’t agree on budget details. Fans can continue looking forward to this movie then. :D
