KODE5 South East Asia

We promised to get back on KODE5 South East Asia qualifier event and here is the essential details: to be held at Cyzone Internet Cafe’ located in Hanoi, Vietnam from 11th to 12th April. This competition will feature Counter Strike 1.6 and will only open to teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and of course, the host nation - Vietnam.

As for the prizes, these are what they offered:

Grand Prize
Travel and accommodations at KODE5 Global Finals in Moscow, Russia this coming May.

From CM Storm
5 x CM Storm Scout PC Chassis
5 x Cooler Master eXtreme Plus 550W PSU
5 x Cooler Master Hyper N520 Cooler

From QPAD
15 x QPAD CT KODE5 Edition

From Corsair
5 x Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX Memory
5 x Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400 Memory
5 x Corsair 4GB USB Voyager

As you can see, the prize pool are totally consisted of hardware from KODE5 sponsors without any cash prizes. Somehow we think the (now dropped) CyberFusion 2009 deal is a bit better as far as prizes goes but of course, representing your country/region is a different ball game altogether.

Also, KODE5 Global Finals in Moscow this year offers US$ 40,000 in cash prizes for the winners. Maybe that would be the determining factor for competing teams. :D

Will any of local teams be able to compete at KODE5 SEA? Is a trip to Moscow is a good reason for Malaysian teams to compete in the qualifier? Tell us all about it in our comments box!

Ah well…looking at the list, they currently have 17 teams with only 2 foreign team - Titans and XcN. I think most of the participants will only be local Vietnamese teams. :|
