CyberFusion 2009 @ Cyberjaya Updates: CS1.6 Dropped, Forms Went Online and ASTRO Is Onboard

CyberFusion 2009 @ Cyberjaya

Yesterday, we received a rather shocking news from CyberFusion’s game consultant - GameGen. Due to clashing dates with KODE5 South East Asia Qualifiers in Hanoi, Vietnam (which will be held on the same weekend as CyberFusion - more on that later), the organizers has decided to drop Counter Strike 1.6 from the event’s One Nation Invitational tournament.

Apart from the clashing dates, GameGen explained that they expected that many invited CS1.6 teams will decline CyberFusion’s invitation in favor of KODE5 event especially those from neighboring country. With that, they have no choice but to cancel the game altogether. :|

On another related news, the registration forms is now online at CyberFusion’s official website. Alternatively, you can download them from Mygozone - which has been revived back specially for the event. With that, we now finally got the registration mechanics laid down for both the tournament and the record breaking attempt.

Last but not least, GameGen also confirmed that ASTRO is now part of the event’s sponsors. We are not clear how or what are they going to sponsor, but at the very least, you can expect to see your pretty faces on the satellite TV very-very soon.

That’s all from us, expect more to come as the dates getting closer to the event.

Since CS1.6 has been touted as one of eSports’ core games, how can this news affect the nation’s first ever large scale LAN Party? Do you think the organizers should ignore KODE5 and just do it with local teams? Tell us your opinions in our comments box.

I personally partially agree with you Alan. But it seems that the organizer saw it differently. Plus, CS community seems doesn’t really care about this news too, so yeah… :|
