Malaysia’s Intention To Host 2010 WCG Asian Championship Revealed

Redza Rafiq of Cyberview says more stuff is coming to Cyberjaya for gaming.

As promised, here is another big news that came from recent CyberFusion 2009 @ Cyberjaya launch: the country is interested to host the WCG Asian Championship 2010. This relavtion was made by Redza Rafiq, the Managing Director of Cyberview Sdn Bhd, whereby in his opening speech and also, press release explaining the relationship between MDeC and CyberFusion 2009:

We are also pleased to have Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) as the supporting agency for CyberFusion 2009 @ Cyberjaya. As custodian to MSC Malaysia Creative Multimedia Content Initiative (M-CMCI) and the Malaysian Games Operations and Research (MyCORE) initiative, MDeC’s presence lends an invaluable support to CyberFusion 2009 @ Cyberjaya which we hope will serve as catalyst for Malaysia’s bid to host the 2010 World Cyber Games Asian Championship.

When we asked for further explaination behind the WCG Asian Championship 2010 initiative during Q&A session, Redza explained that CyberFusion itself is just one of the starting point, with more coming along as mentioned above. He further added, “Watch this space,“. We are watching indeed.

We are now waiting for replies from both WCG, Inc. and WCG Malaysia National Organizer for their opinion on this exciting news. Check back soon, guys.

UPDATE (17th March): It has been a week since we emailed WCG Inc. and WCG Malaysia National Organizer to seek their comments on this news but so far, we have yet to receive any feedback. Tough break, guys.
