According to Guinness World Record 2009: Gamer’s Edition - page 177, the current record for longest mass-participation LAN Party is 36 hours and was done by 203 gamers at NVISION 2008. Looks like the record is going to be broken in few months time at our own backyard.
The longest LAN Party record breaking attempt will be held at an event called Cyber Fusion, organized by AMD, Cyberview Sdn. Bhd., GameGen and Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) with collaboration from Game Developers’ Club (GDC) of Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya. This event will take place from Friday, 10th April until Sunday, 12th April at Grand Hall, MMU Cyberjaya.
Breaking records will not the only thing to be done at Cyber Fusion. Other activities will include GameFest’09 by GDC which incorporated Boardgames, Cybergames and Game Development sections. Cyber Fusion itself will have a tournament featuring Call of Duty 4, Counter-Strike 1.6, DoTA and FIFA’09, with cash prizes said to be in total of more than RM 45,000!
Right now, details are still pretty sketchy, apart from those that we wrote above. The event information actually was not made known directly, instead it was (partly) revealed by GDC’s announcement of next week’s E-Sport 09, whereby top two teams or players from FIFA’09, CS1.6 and DoTA will be seeded directly into Top 16 of Cyber Fusion.
Do look forward to more information about the event, once we received more of it at the press conference, scheduled to be held at Cyberjaya next Friday, 6th March - as told by GameGen’s representative in a short phone conversation yesterday. They also wish to invite fellow gamers that are interested to participate in the record breaking attempt to the conference as well, so keep an eye on Multiplay periodically for updates.

MdeC involvement? who wrote this article? please clarified your facts.
Chapree: I did mentioned in the article that I got my facts mainly HERE and HERE, which I did include links to both site at the end of the article. There’s no clear mention of MDeC there, but now that we got confirmation from GameGen’s rep whom contacted us earlier today, I’ve edited the article.
Do note that since there is still no official announcement, what we’ve wrote is based on what we have right now.

I think it is organised by Cyberview Sdn Bhd and AMD in colloboration with MMU GDC, supported/endorsed by MDeC and manage by Game Gen…
Just wait for their official announcements…
Chapree: Well, all of them are basically working toward making Cyber Fusion happen. That’s what more important than all the terms and word play.
