It is partaaayy timeee! - A lucky bugger just won himself some graphic card from the lucky draw.

We don’t usually associate fragging with Christmas, but e-Club Malaysia just changed that with their Christmas LAN Party that was held during Christmas holiday weekend couple of weeks ago. Featured game were Valve’s Counter-Strike 1.6, Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 with more 30 teams signed up for the tournament which was held at Rock Cafe, Bandar Sunway.

Left 4 Dead Cooler Master casing is yummy…

The first day of e-Club Christmas LAN Party was totally dedicated to Left 4 Dead. The format of the day was to find the fastest team can finish a campaign in a set time frame, which was revealed on the day itself: Blood Harvest in Advanced mode and Death Toll in Expert mode. As hilarious as it may sounded, most of the 10 participating team actually gave up, citing it was too tough.

…and these guys took them home.

At the end of the day, only 2 teams managed to complete the Left 4 Dead Challenge, with Team R.E.A.L dominated both campaign and Fusion came 2nd in the expert mode. When we say dominated, we mean really dominates. Team R.E.A.L finished the advanced challenge in a mere 25 minutes, while the expert mode took them only 50 minutes.

TMK 6th member is Doreamon. :P

Moving on to Counter-Strike, around 20 teams took part in the competition, where it was spread over a period of three days. After four teams were eliminated, the 16 leftovers team were then pitted against each other using the standard double elimination format.

PWYH going through one of their matches.

A lot of attention were given to two teams: UCpro and freshly built TMK, as these teams was spawned from the disbandment of [LZ]. Gavin and Hix, together with KrixxKroxx, sHadZz and rico whom formed the core of TMK went on to lower bracket rather early in the tournament, losing to Natural Ones in the double elimination opening matches. On the opposing side, things went rather well for UCpro. They went on to top the upper bracket, under the lineup of nitroN, syck, mAsh, Jabroniz and Sniggy.

Kingsurf.MIX - mixture of Singapore and Malaysian players.

Also in focus was Kingsurf.MIX, the Counter-Strike division of the well known Johorian DoTA team, whom made rather a suprise appearance in the tournament. The usual Singaporean players lineup missed two of their usual key players and substituted with Malaysian players for this tournament. KS.MIX made i through until upper bracket semi finals, where they were then demoted to lower bracket after losing out to PWYH.

Team UCpro dominated the tournament.

This is how the final four teams went on:

Lower Bracket Round 4
KS.MIX vs. TMK: 16 - 8

Upper Bracket Finals
UCpro vs. PWYH: 16 - 11

Lower Bracket Finals
PWYH vs. KS.MIX: 9 - 16

Grand Finals
UCpro vs. KS.MIX: 16 - 11

In TF2, the number of participating teams was rather disappointing as only four teams signed up for the tournament. Regardless of the short number of teams, e-Club went on with the show but the competition date were moved a day later than scheduled.

Team Fortress 2 players mingle with each other.

Out of the four teams, PT*! was the only team who competed in the previous TF2 tournament at Orange Box Party earlier this year, which they finished as 2nd Runner Up. But more expectation was given to aG6 as the team contained fragments of KHZ, the Orange Box Party TF2 champion.

Acolyte Gaming’s victory pose.

At the end of the day, aG6 didn’t disappoint indeed. The team virtually ran over the rest of the field with much ease. I guess when you have Guy Fawkes (mask) on your side, you’ll get some extra boost for the win.
