World Cyber Games Ventures Into Reality Show With WCG Ultimate Gamer

Have you ever thought that World Cyber Games would spawned into a reality show? Neither do us, so it was indeed a little bit shocking when we found the promo video on YouTube. The show was actually first announced by WCG US way back in last October under the name of WCG GameQuest.
Unlike the recently deceased Championship Gaming Series which is a pure gaming competition, WCG Ultimate Gamer used a typical reality show method: bunch of participants - 12 to be exact, gather together and live under one roof. Then, one by one are eliminated by the means of challenges against each other. Except that, the show combined both video games and the games’ real life equivalent as challenges. On the line are US$ 100000, electronic packages (presumably from Samsung), and free trip to WCG events worldwide.
Featured games on the shows are official WCG games such as PGR 4, Virtua Fighter 5 and Halo 3 plus couple of other popular non-WCG games such as Rock Band 2, Dance Dance Revolution and NBA’09. For example, using Rock Band 2 as a theme, participants were asked to play the game first, and then they were asked to play the real music instruments!
The show is coming to Sci-Fi Channel in US this March. I hope that WCG Malaysia would able to show this show at Malaysian Championship later this year. It would be a hit among gamers to kill time while waiting for their turn to compete.
Check out the promo video after the jump.
