Community Powered Sunway Rock Cafe Call of Duty 4 Mini Competition

On 13th and 14th December 2008, around 22 teams got together in a Call of Duty 4 Mini Competition held at Rock Cafe, Bandar Sunway. The competition was divided into two categories - team and individual Free For All (FFA).

According to the competition’s main man - XEF|aKa, this tournament ran without any sponsors and was fully depended on the teams and FFA participants registration fees for prizes and other basic operational costs. This explained why the prizes money were smaller compared to other CoD4 tournaments.

To some extent, you can said that this competition was powered solely by the CoD4 community themselves. Congratulations for showing such an example to the scene. Oh yeah, full recap and results is available after the jump.

Even with the absense (or rather restriction) of previous tournament winners and couple of established clans such ESP Gaming and SWL, this competition still managed to pack a lot of punch. Single elimination format was used throughout this competition. As per usual, the competition started with group stage, where all participating teams are divided into four groups.

Top team from each groups were then proceed to the Semi-Finals and they are:

Group A: [eG]21
Group B: SRC|XEF.NaaBs!
Group C: < N|X > - [MythS]
Group D: Tbun|FFF.Cr33ps

At the finals, the home team - SRC|XEF.NaaBs! was pitted against Tbun|FFF.Cr33ps after both managed to won against < N|X > - [MythS] and [eG]21 respectively in semis. In the first round of the finals, XEF overcame FFF rather easily with 8 - 2 score under the Search & Destroy mode. XEF extended their victory well into second round under the Domination mode, leaving FFF no room to stop XEF from taking home the championship.
