SMM Grand National DoTA Tournament 2008 Grand Finals Officially Launched

Dr. Ricky Lim, SMM’s big kahuna smashed down the Frozen Throne to officiate SGNDT 2008 Grand Finals.

Almost half a year in the making, the SMM Grand National DoTA Tournament (SGNDT) 2008 has finally reached its grand finale this weekend at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur. The event, which offered a total cash prizes of RM 120,000 throughout its qualifiers and grand finals, was launched yesterday by Sendi Mutiara Multimedia’s President and CEO, Dr. Ricky Lim.

Although SGNDT 2008 Grand Finals was just officially launched, the action already begun two days ago. A total of 45 teams participated in the Grand Finals, which consisted of 37 qualified teams from state qualifiers and 8 invited international teams. Unfortunately, out of these eight international teams, one team - Rush3D of Russia was not able to make it due to some travel complications.

Since this is the first time that SGNDT received international teams participation, it is interesting to see how Malaysian teams coupe with the challenge to defend their hometurf especially from the likes of WCG Asian Championship 2008 champion - EHOME of China and the Indonesian powerhouse, Fnatic. Also on action are two all-female teams from PMS clan which contained members from Singapore and USA.

Will Kingsurf able to defend their SGNDT 2007 title or will it go to an international team instead? We shall see later today.
