Xbox 360 owners shall smile today as the New Xbox Experience (NXE) update is now ready to be downloaded and deployed to their machines. The update which requires at least 128MB free space on 360’s hard disk or memory card feature couple of new features such as:
- Totally revamped Xbox 360 Dashboard and Xbox Guide interface which is prettier and easier to navigate compared to the old one.
- The capablity to install games to 360s hard drive. You still need the game disc for verification though.
- Xbox LIVE Party - chat with up to 8 people while gaming from one game to another, together-gether
- Community Games - games made using Microsoft’s home game building kit, XNA.
- Avatars! Fully customize to represent yourself on Xbox LIVE world and watch your own avatar to be part of a game - currently supported by UNO, A Kingdom for Keflings, Hardwood Hearts and Scene It? Box Office Smash.

My own 360 has received the new updates earlier today and obviously, avatar creation was the priority. Add me to your LIVE’s friends list.
To download and deploy the update, just connect to Xbox LIVE and follow the instructions on-screen. The update will take some time depending on your Internet connection, so why not take some time off the box while it update itself.
