Championship Gaming Series Closed Down

Date November 20, 2008 by Chapree

Championship Gaming Series 2008
The number ends at 2.

After only 2 seasons, Championship Gaming Series has now gone to dust as BSkyB, STAR and DirecTV decided to close the league down. The organization cited profitability hardship due to current economic condition as the main reason behind the closure.

CGS has now joined the ranks of World Series of Video Games and Cyberathletes Professional League as yet another failed large scale eSports events. Nobody saw it coming and the future of CGS teams are pretty much in jeopardy although most of the current and previous franchises players would probably still be active in the community.

Same goes to our own CGS franchise team, KL Taufan who are about to receive a major resource injection. With the league no longer around, we wonder what will happen to the team and their future expansion plan. We do hope that the team and the plan will survive to live another day.

    Hmm that’s a bad news.

Anyway what TPK said is good. Instead of TV coverage, online coverages will work too!

Any official announcements from KL Taufan?

This is a really sad news. Loved the concept although there’s alot of room for improvements. Sadly it lasted for only 2 seasons. :(
