M1-Heaven celebrating his victory at WCG Malaysia 2008. I bet he did something similar at Cologne just now.
M1-Heaven became the first Team Malaysia’s player to qualify to Top 16 stage at WCG 2008 Grand Finals in Cologne, Germany. Our homeboy, his Russian counterpart - USSRxProStreet and also Serb’s representative - HrCak shared the same 9 points from their 3 wins, so they went for a rematch. Both Russia and Malaysia won over Serbia which lead to the group leader decider match where Heaven won over Russia with a comfortable margin as told by Heaven himself HERE.

M1-Heaven group standings.
Heaven is now on par with the the legendary luige, who provided Malaysia’s best performances in NFS back in WCG 2004 Grand Finals at San Francisco, USA. We shall be able to see whether Heaven’s managed to rise the bar for local NFS scene this coming November 8th where his Top 16 stage matches shall begin.
Meanwhile, two out of our three RTS players was eliminated from the tournament. Both C&C3 and Warcraft 3 group contained a number of superstars of respective game, so it was indeed an uphill battle. Vic Viper, our C&C3 rep managed to win against Thailand, Singapore and South Africa but succumbed to UK, USA and Germany. Ironically, last year’s C&C3 title holder - dignitas/Apollo of UK, who was in the same group with Vic Viper, also failed to qualify to next stage. Wonder why…

As for Team Malaysia’s Warcraft 3 rep - UCpro|Serry, it was a dream and nightmare at the same time. Drew side by side with his idol - MYM|Grubby of Netherlands, Serry was pretty much stream rolled by Grubby and other stars in the group, namely Sweden’s aTTaX.SaSe, China’s WE.Pepsi.Infi and Germany’s yaws. Serry didn’t ended the tournament empty handed, as he also managed to brought down Peru and Ecuador’s rep.

Still to come later tonight, Team Malaysia will be fielding it’s Counter-Strike, FIFA’08 and Starcraft players. We already posted the schedule yesterday, so you’ll be able to set your alarm clock for the matches. Don’t forget to keep on supporting our national team through comments box below, Lowyat.NET forums or WCG’s official website. We shall see you guys again with another recap soon.

[...] For the record, the nearest Malaysia ever got to receive a WCG medal was back in 2005, where [W|nDs]Si_Jali received 4th place at the Grand Finals in Singapore. Meanwhile, we recapped their final two tournament days, right after the jump. The first day recap available HERE. [...]
