It was an intense day in Hong Kong when the battle started at 3.30pm at The Peak. The Peak is a very famous hill with a lot of beautiful scenery all over. It is known that Jackie Chan was one of the most frequent visitors at The Peak but unfortunately we didn’t saw him.

The Intel Asia PC Gaming Showdown is divided into three games, where each participants have to play all three games. The participants with the most overall points takes home the championship. It is a three way battle between Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.

FIFA’08 Showdown

The event kicked off with FIFA’08 with the first match between Si_Jali representing Malaysia vs John of Philippines. It was just a breeze for Si_Jali when he ended thrashing his opponent with a score of 7-0.

Next up was his counterpart from Thailand, Ups. Ups tried to use a different tactic with a formation of 5-3-2 but it did no harmed to Si_Jali. Our Malaysian boy took another win with a 6-0 score. The final FIFA’08 match was between John v Ups with Ups taking the win for Thailand with 2-0 score.

The final standings for FIFA’08:

  1. [W|nDs]Si_Jali (Malaysia)
  2. Ups (Thailand)
  3. John (Philippines)

Need for Speed ProStreet Racing

Second game one the menu was Need For Speed ProStreet. Ups surprised everyone when he unleashed his Logitech G25 wheel for this competition. He really meant business. His other opponents from Philippines and Malaysia were only equipped with a gamepad and keyboard respectively.

Ups lead the pack since the start of the race, with John and Si_Jali trailing behind. Things started to get interesting in the 2nd lap when Si_Jali overtake his Philippines rival in the early corner by going off the road into the grass while maintaining the speed of his car. It’s all or nothing from there on for Si_Jali after leaving John to bite the dust.

On to the 3rd lap, John was far behind and Si_Jali tried as hard as he could to get nearer to his Thailand counterpart. But with Ups showing no sign of letting down and Si_Jali made a costly mistake gave Ups the win for Thailand.

The final standings for NFSPS:

  1. Ups (Thailand)
  2. [W|nDs]Si_Jali (Malaysia)
  3. John (Philippines)

Crysis Battle

The final game of the days was Crysis. Again, Ups of Thailand has an advantage here as he informed us that he had quite an experience in First Person Shooter games especially Battlefield 2.

Ups really showed his experience where he pretty much totaled both his rivals. Knowing how accurate the Thailand FPS master is, Si_Jali went for more safety route which many spectator called it ‘guerilla’ style where else John just continued his Rambo face to face style on Ups. As expected, Ups brought home another win for Thailand.

The final standings for Crysis:

  1. Ups (Thailand)
  2. John (Philippines)
  3. [W|nDs]Si_Jali (Malaysia)

Although Ups of Thailand has the most win, but the Intel Asia PC Gaming Showdown rules emphasis more on number of goals, total laptimes and number frags. With Si_Jali enormous lead against both of his Thailand and Philippines opponents in FIFA’08 and with a little help from his 2nd place driving in NFS ProStreet, he managed to take home the championship and be the first ever Intel Asia PC Gaming Showdown champion!

Congratulations to Si_Jali for making the country (and us at Lowyat.NET) once again! :D

Intel Asia PC Gaming Showdown Final Standings

2nd Runner Up: John (Philippines)

P/S: The actual overall points will only be revealed until we received it from Intel.

Thx for all the sweet comments! ^^

It wasnt as easy as it seems. Its not easy to be good at all 3 games which each players have their own ‘pwning’ game. Ups from Thai was very gd in Crysis. He almost destroy our hope.

But due to everyone hard work I’ve manage to clinch the 1st title for Malaysia!

I would like to say thx to Lowyat,Intel,Eddy,Priority,Forza,Chap and everyone who have help me get ready for the tournament. This title is for all u guys.
