Last year, Team Cybertime 1 took the honor as the first champion of Sino Grand DoTA Tournament. One year later, things were pretty much different as a lot of things have changed for such a short period. This time around, the prizes was a little bit smaller but are spread better up to 8th place winner.

A total of 16 teams took part in the second edition of this tournament. The small participation number doesn’t justify the level of the tournament though since including world #2 DoTA team, KingSurf plus other Malaysian maestros such as Ice` (all the way from) Penang, UCPRO-Tbun, DNA-SK, v2.mKvL and many more.
At the end of Day 1, eight teams were chosen from a grueling group stage. They were: KingSurf, The Net, DNA-SK, UCPRO-Tbun, v2.mKvL, Penang Ice`, FishNet and GP emerge. All of them were then put into double elimination action on Day 2.

Day 2 of SGDT 2008 is where the real action is. Penang Ice` shocked everybody when they sent crowd’s favorite - KingSurf into Lower Bracket during Round 1 of Upper Bracket. But then, Kingsurf as expected stormed through the Lower Bracket to met the Penangites once again at the Grand Finals. Once there, the mighty Ks returned back the favor to Penang Ice` and clinched the champion title.
Below are the final standings of Sino Grand DoTA Tournament 2008:

KingSurf - Champion

Penang Ice`- 1st Runner Up

v2.mKvL - 2nd Runner Up
Overall, the event kinda successful although it saw lower participants number this around. But, Sino Grand DoTA Tournament is still a high level competition judging from the top level of participants. Not to forget, an amazing 20,000 spectators were recorded by Garena during the live of the SGDT2008 Day 2 live broadcast.
Well then, see you again next year!
