The famed creator of Ultima series (among the many games he created), Richard “Lord British” Garriott launched into space to the International Space Station (ISS) yesterday. He is the sixth private space tourist and the first former American astronaut’s child to ever go to space as his father was a NASA astronaut who involved in two space flight mission.
Over at ISS, Garriott will conduct a number of science experiments and couple of education-related programs. Also, together with him is “Immortality Drive“, a device that contained DNAs of selected humans and avatars of every player to ever set foot in his latest game, Tabula Rasa. He earlier planned to login to the game from ISS but the idea was booted by space station higher ups as they concerned by hacker attacks from back home.
He is due to return to Earth on 23rd October. Meanwhile, you can follow live feed of Garriott’s mission from NASA-TV through his website. We wish Lord British a safe and pleasant mission aboard the ISS.
