A year after its initial release, Rock Band is finally available for Asian’s Xbox 360 owners. Previously, many gamers usually got themselves a PlayStation 3 just to play the game as PS3 games are region free.

Apart from the one year delay, the release is kind of questionable since Rock Band 2 is already out (not for Asian customers, again) and Guitar Hero:World Tour is coming in one month time. There is also Konami’s Rock Revolution coming out next month. Talking about 3-way head on clash.

We haven’t just got the permission and complete details about the game’s availability in Malaysia from local EA distributor - Gamers Dotcom but it is indeed heading here, nevertheless. it is already here!

The game came in four types of package. Below is the recommended retail price for each package:

  • Instruments Edition (contained USB hub, mic, drums and guitar but without the game): RM 699
  • Guitar Standalone: RM 319
  • Drums Standalone: RM 459
  • Game Standalone: To be confirmed soon - expect it to be under RM 200.

The prices are indeed higher compared to the Singapore’s pricelist. According to the EA distro, this is due to tax and shipping cost. The Malaysia RRP list applies to the PS3 version as well.

My personal advice would be to wait for GHWT (’em drumset got cymbals and I totally dig that!) and then, get the stand-alone version of Rock Band. Or vice-versa. Although there will be some complication switching from one game to another, it is indeed a more economical solution since instruments from both game worked with each other.

Unless you too in love with both games. That should cost you close to RM 1.7k, just for two games. Make it RM 2000 + if you getting Rock Revolution too. :o
