Team Malaysia @ ESWC 2008 Grand Finals

Right now, it’s 8:35 am at San Jose, the host city of ESWC 2008 Grand Finals where the best of Malaysia in DoTA and Trackmania Nations are competing for the title of world champion. Things has been going well physically for the team members, no complain of sickness or anything so far.

But then, the Malaysian camp received one good news and one bad news on Day 2. Let’s start with the bad one - our TMN rep, Luige was eliminated once and for all from the competition after getting third in his final match. Below are the scores from his match:

Pipo (Switzerland) : 134
Sky (Holland) : 107
Luige : 64
Mojo (Canada): 58

With that defeat, Luige ended his TMN campaign at #25 out of 30 players.

Moving on to the good news, Kingsurf rolled over the well known Danish team, Meet Your Makers and booked themselves a place at the finals. That’s one medal confirmed, the first ever ESWC and world-level eSports tournament medal for Malaysia! :o

According to the live commentary provided by Luige in our forums, a disconnection happened in the middle of the game. MYM requested for a rematch, but their request was denied by marshals and the match was resumed from the final save game. The incident didn’t stop Kingsurf winning rhythm and they went on to clinch the victory.

Waiting at the finals will be another well known Asian team, Zenith of Singapore, scheduled to happen at 3:00 am MST, 28th August. Live broadcast will be available at ESWC official website. Don’t forget to tune in and watch the first Malaysian team ever to play at one of the highest level in international eSports. All the best to Kingsurf, we all rooting for you guys! :D

Note: MST = Malaysian Standard Time, +8 GMT.
