Team Malaysia just finished off their first day of ESWC 2008 Grand Finals campaign at San Jose, USA. As you might know, our nation is competing in two games: DoTA and Trackmania Nations Forever.
Things looked good for our DoTA representative, Kingsurf which ended up the day as one of the two group leaders in Group A. Out of 5 matches, Ks lost only once to Swedish powerhouse, SK Gaming. Currently, they shared the same 12 points with Evil Geniuses of USA, whom managed to beat SK Gaming but lost out to Kingsurf during group matches.
By topping their group, Kingsurf together with EG will now proceed to the tournament’s Semi-Finals, scheduled to play 10:30 am MST tomorrow. Top 4 in the world sounds good quite good but I believe Kingsurf is going all the way to the podium.
Moving on, Trackmania Nations were also played today but our TMN rep - Luige ended up his first day of ESWC 2008 Grand Finals in less than satisfying position compared to Kingsurf. The day started with a qualification where all TMN players were divided randomly into 4 people per group.
Top two of each group will proceed to upper bracket while the rest will have to start from the lower bracket. At the end of his qualifying match, Luige ended as 4th in the group putting him at the lower bracket. Below are the scores:
- Fruit (Austria) - 116 points
- Toni (Czech Republic) - 110 points
- Sandro (Czech Republic) - 90 points
- Luige - 30 points
Luige will now have to use his second chance to the fullest, if he want to grab home some medals. He have no other option other than keep on being Top 2 for all his match until the end. Luige will continue his journey tomorrow at 1:00 am MST against three other players: Sky (Holland), Mojo (Canada) and Pipo (Switzerland).
That’s all for today. We see you guys tomorrow for Day 2 of ESWC 2008 Grand Finals, San Jose, USA.
Note: MST = Malaysian Standard Time, +8 GMT.
