Multiplay Live! : CELgames’08 Grand Finals

Howdy folks! Welcome to yet another Multiplay’s live coverage, this time from CELgames’08 Grand Finals, happening right now at GameAxis Live!, Hall 2 of Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, KL. All three of the official games will be played today - Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath, FIFA’08 and NFS ProStreet.

To recap what happened along the way, 8 NFS and C&C3 players plus 16 FIFA’08 players were chosen to the Grand Finals through 3 qualifiers that were held around Klang Valley. Yesterday, it is down to only few select one after a grueling Elimination rounds. They are:

• C&C3 : Ravana, [r0r1]gamerholic and Vic Viper
• FIFA’08: [W|nDs]Loonatic, [W|nDs]A13x, [W|nDs]Vin and [W|nDs]Jotaro
• NFS ProStreet: M1-Heaven, FoRza and Nosferatu.nG

Command & Conquer 3:Kane’s Wrath
11:25am: The lower bracket finals between [r0r1]gamerholic and Vic Viper just started!

11:29am: First match at Tournament Arena already over. Vic Viper defeated gamerholic in just under 5 minutes! Will gamerholic able to return the favor to Vic?

11:32am: Second match is underway now. The fight is taking place at Small Town USA.

11:32am: gamerholic won this round! Looks like we are going into a tie-breaker!:o

11:40am: The tie-breaker map has been selected randomly by marshals. The draw turned out to be Tournament Dustbowl.

11:41am: The final match between gamerholic and Vic Viper has just started. The winner of this round will meet the Singaporean maestro, Ravana later.

11:48am: Vic Viper is victorious in this round! While Vic just booked himself a place in the finals against Ravana, gamerholic will not go home empty handed as he will received 3rd place rewards for his efforts.

11:56am: The Grand Final between Vic Viper and Ravana has just begun!

12:03pm: Ravana won the first match at Tournament Dustbowl!! Next match will take place at Tournament Tower.

12:03pm: The second match has just begin! Ravana looks very strong as usual.

12:12pm: Ravana is unstopabble! A final score of 2 - 0 win gave him 2nd consecutive CELgames C&C title. Vic not too bad either as he’ll receive 2nd place prizes.

12:14pm: While we were checking out C&C and NFS progress, the FIFA’08 lower bracket semi-finals and upper bracket finals already started.

In upper bracket, Alex on Brazil is currently leading Loon’s Braca 1 - 0 while in lower bracket, Vin is currently leading his clanmate, Jotaro 2 - 0.

12:19pm: Loon just equalized! Apparently, Alex fouled Loon’s player in the penalty box and Loon easily converted it into a gol. They are still in the first match and the score is 1 - 1.

12:24pm: The first match of lower bracket semi-final has just ended. Vin toppled Jotaro with a comfortable 4 - 0 win.

12:27pm: Upper backet final’s first match has just over as well. The score was tied 1 - 1 between Loon and Alex.

12:30pm: The second match of both brackets are currently underway. Vin is leading Jotaro once again at 3 - 0 and the score between Alex and Loon is still 0 - 0.

12:40pm: Things still tied between Alex and Loon although it’s now 1 - 1. Vin already have a confirmed win even before the match over as he’s currently leading Jotaro with a huge 4 - 0 margin.

12:40pm: Vin vs Jotaro match already over but the match is still far from over for Alex and Loon. They kept on equalizing each other and the current score is 2 - 2.

12:45pm: Upper bracket final match is over! Loon fall to lower bracket as Alex managed to win this round by away goal differences. Loon will now have to meet his long-time partner, Vin for a rematch chance against Alex, who is currently waiting as the upper bracket winner.

12:50pm: We just receive news that the next matches will take place at 2:15pm as the tournament area will be used by other GameAxis Live! events. Off to lunch first, then!

2:49pm: Alright, the FIFA’08 lower bracket finals is happening right now between Loon and Vin. The first match has over with Loon in the lead, 1 - 0. The second match just reached half-time with both players tied at 0 - 0.

3:00pm: Loon qualified to the finals! He added another goal just before the second match reached full time. With a comfortable 2 - 0 score, Loon will have a rematch with Alex at the CELgames’08 FIFA’08 Grand Finals.

3:02pm: A group of participants already anticipating the FIFA’08 Grand Finals by “taking bets” .

Kids, don’t do this at home. Polis kata jangan!

3:27pm: The first match of FIFA’08 Grand Finals has just ended. Loon and Alex were pretty much tied up until 70th minute where Alex scored a goal and managed to retained the away goal lead till the end.

3:30pm: The second match has just started.

3:31pm: The current score is 0 - 1, advantage to Loon. This match is going to be tight I believe…and woh, this just in - Alex just equalize the score to 1 - 1!

3:37pm: 2nd half is now underway, Loon gain the lead again right after the half started. Current score is now 1 - 2.

3:46pm: Alex equalized again, making it 2 - 2 against Loon. Again, Alex managed to retained the score and with that, he just won the first ever major title in his FIFA career! w000t!

11:15am: All of the finalist is already here. The tournament will start will lower bracket finals between Nosferatu.nG and M1-Heaven. Winner of this match will meet the mighty FoRza in the finals.

11:43am: The lower brackets finals is about to begin. Two circuits has been chosen from a random draw by marshals - Willow Springs and Autopolis.

11:50am: A close win by Malaysia’s #2, Heaven against the Thailand champ, Nosferatul at Willow Springs. It’s only a 3 second gap but in racing world, that made a lot of difference.

11:53am: The second race already underway now. Will the Thai champ recover back from the one point deficit?

12:00pm: Lower bracket finals is over! M1-Heaven managed to revenge his defeat to Nosferatu during qualifiers on Friday with a convincing 2 - 0 win. Although defeated, Nosferatu is applauded for his efforts to came all the way from Bangkok and will bring home 3rd place prizes.

12:50pm: We just receive news that the next matches will take place at 2:15pm as the tournament area will be used by other GameAxis Live! events. Off to lunch first, then!

2:17pm: Welcome back to our live coverage. The finals for NFS ProStreet between M1-Heaven and reigning champion, Forza has just started. First circuit is Texas Speedway.

2:23pm: First race is over. Forza showed no mercy when he left Heaven with a 7 seconds gap. Second race already started and this time it’s at Chicago Airfield.

2:28pm: Woah, Heaven just got himself a lifeline! He managed to toppled Forza with a 3 second gap. We are now going into tie-breaker where we will be able to see either a new CELgames champion or the title holder continuing his domination!

2:30pm: The finals is underway now! This round is played at Infineon, a circuit full of twisting corners and a very fast stretch at the finish line.

2:39pm: Forza won the race! The title holder showed that Heaven still need lotsa practice before Heaven can take the crown away by leaving him behind with a 11-seconds gap!

There we have it, CELgames’08 has finally came to an end that saw two title holder managed to retain their titles and one new winner in FIFA’08. This event basically gave an impression on how WCG Malaysia 2008 is going to look like next month. Congratulations to all!
