Rapture Welcome Non-Singaporeans To WCG Through Special Category

Back in April, the organizer of WCG Singapore, Rapture Gaming revealed that they are going to have a category at WCG Singapore this year where non-Singaporeans are allowed to join. They have finally released information regarding the special category few weeks ago.

There are two main categories at WCG Singapore 2008. The first one is called National Finals, where it is open ONLY to Singaporeans. Meanwhile, the second category is called the Open Category, where it is non-nationality restricted all age category. Games involved in the Open Category are:

Call of Duty 4 - 5v5
DoTA - 5v5
Halo 3 (Xbox 360) - 4v4

In terms of prize money, the amount of cash offered in Open Category is close to RM 16,500 (around SGD 6,900) with DoTA having the largest share at RM 8,000 - half of the available amount. Since winners of this category will not be representing Singapore, you will not have any problem to join WCG Malaysia later on. In fact, all those games were not even a part of WCG official games.

As Games Xtreme League will not make an appearance at WCG Singapore as per last year, I guess the Open Category will take its place as WCG Singapore / Asian WCG Championship parallel tournament. Anyway, if you prefer an open individual competition instead, the Cheers GRID League for Xbox 360 is waiting for you.
