You Finally Can Destroy Your Cars In Gran Turismo

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

If there’s one imperfection in Polyphony Digital’s “perfect” driving game Gran Turismo series, that would be the lack of damage to the cars in the game. That could be a thing of the past since the series’ director, Kazunori Yamauchi has mentioned that they are going to implement damage into the game soon.

In an interview with IGN.com, Yamauchi didn’t mentioned any exact dates for the new feature to be included in the game but stated that “Maybe by fall we’ll be able to implement it,“. He also confirmed that the damage feature will be available as a download to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue players.

Did Yamauchi finally bow down to the pressure from other racing games or the damage feature is actually Polyphony’s best kept secret? Well, let’s hope that the damage feature will be as realistic as other departments of the game.

I dont know why people always wants the damage.escp the US gamers..maybe they love to damage other peoples..take a look of their games-is all about destroying.. to me PD should concentrate on other features- weather changing/more cars etc..

Chapree: Hmmm…brilliant point! Especially the dynamic weather suggestion. GT already have a lot of cars, so I guess that has been covered although I still wonder when Proton cars going to be in the game. :D

Still, I believe that damage is an overdue feature for GT series. Damages features requires an extreme amount of physics manipulation which should push the game engine and PlayStation 3 to considerably high level. :D

Realistic? GT5? puhleez. It can never be realistic as
a - The limitation of the core processor
b - The data it can calculate is limited to the data on the disc
c - A REAL simulator is one that can simultaniously calculate and crunch all data for all car in real time, a feature which the GT5 really lacking

Chapree: Some good points to think about, GT fanboys… :D

Too bad they finally accept the damage features after being pushed with the very same same same questions..they promised the real damage will be implement soon (i dont know what is the method PD does but its painstakingly eyecandy details),when we concentrate on crash simulator, a lot of 3d polygon of the crashed cars have to build, polygon processing, calculating etc bla bla have to apply to those cars, sacrifying other features really important that can be implemented.I bet the US gamers play this game like Burnout Paradise..to me is a waste because we want a driving simulator not a crash simulator..
