WCG Asian Is Not Going Anywhere Outside Singapore
March 19, 2008 by Chapree

Suntec again?
For the past a month or so, there are words that the WCG Asian Championship is going to move out from its traditional venue in Singapore. Words by the gossip bird said that the new host would be between Malaysia and Thailand. Rapture Gaming, the WCG Singapore’s organizer has finally spoken about the rumors and confirmed that this year’s WCG Asian will still be held in Singapore.
Although there are no direct statement from them since the WCG Asian website is currently pretty stale (except for updates from their Samsung King of The Hill tournament that is still running) a number of external proof did confirmed the news. One such proof is the event listing at Uniquely Singapore website and also another listing at Suntec Singapore’s website.
Speaking to GameSync, one of the Rapture’s official mentioned that Malaysia supposed to be this year’s host but for unknown reason, WCG’s big kahuna - ICM International gave it back to Singapore. Too bad then, I bet all of us want to see the WCG Asian happening in our country. Maybe our organizer is not quite ready yet…
The WCG Asian Championship will start from 7th till 10th August 2008. The event which incorporated the WCG Singapore National Championship will be held at Suntec Singapore.

Its quite sad the offical of Singapore, Taking advantage of the WCG Asia.
Why not give it to Malaysia or thailand?
Politcial tsunami? war? I doubt Singapore will lost their tittle this year
Chapree: It could be that the new host country are not yet ready for an event with such calibre. For example, Malaysia’s “environment” are not as gaming friendly as Singapore’s
