CGS KL Taufan Select Their Members This Weekend

After a series of announcement made by Championship Gaming Series, the selection for KL Taufan team members will finally be held this weekend. Why I said selection? Because unlike last year’s qualifiers, it is not a tournament where the winners was selected as team members. It is a drafting…think of it like Akademi Fantasia audition, minus the camera and bad singing, LOL.

The selection process will be held over this Saturday and Sunday, 22nd to 23rd March at FTZ Asia.net, SS15, Subang Jaya. It will involved all CGS official games, both PC and Xbox 360 - Counter-Strike:Source, FIFA’08, Forza Motorsport 2 and Dead or Alive 4. Selected players from this event will be then given a place at Taufan’s boot camp which will last until the final weeks before the team departs to Wuhan. From this boot camp then, the final 10 players for the Pan-Asian Championship will be selected.

Many has sniffed the selection event way back in February, right after the Pan-Asian schedule announcement but almost everyone was surprised by the sudden announcement. Some has expressed dissatisfaction by the 5-day notice as players may not able to practice more throughly and have to reshuffle their current weekly plan. One of the selection commitee, Auricom responded that the current situation forced the selection committee to do so.

The short notice aside, what gamers can expect in the selection this weekend? KL Taufan’s GM, Mohd Irman “Bun” Nawawi explains that this weekend’s selection process will give players a new experience. There is going to be cross matches, interviews and bunch of other stuff - something that is unusual to our scene who is used to tournament format.
