Futuremark Trying To Trademark Pwnage
March 6, 2008 by Chapree

If you need to ask, then you don’t know who is Futuremark Corporation. Know for their PC benchmarking software called 3DMark, they set the community ablaze with some WTF (which ironically, is also a trademarked word.) cries all over the tubes, when the news broke out that they are trying to trademark the word “Pwnage“.
But then, trademark is not as same as copyright or patents. So, Futuremark moves were valid somehow. Jukka Mäkinen, Executive Producer of Futuremark Games Studio responded to the community cries saying that the trademark moves were done to protect themselves rather than charging money for the use of the word.
To date, there are so many l33t words that has been trademarked. But, I’ve yet to see somebody got sued for using l33t words around.
