Yesterday, a special Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars tournament was organized by Gamers Dotcom Sdn Bhd, the official EA distributor for Malaysia at FTZ Asia.net, SS15, Subang Jaya. The event was held to choose one player to represent our country at EA Play’08 C&C3 Regional Invitational Tournament, set to happen this coming March at Singapore.

Group photo is a must.

After a very short briefing at 10:00am, the event started. The original single match per round rules were changed to best of 3 matches from 2nd round onwards as the original rule would make the tournament to be ended very very very early. The tournament took a lunch break at 1pm and the Top 4 stage was resumed after that.

The event was pretty much owned by renowned pedo bears r0r1k0n clan whom fielded their top players including WCG Malaysia 2007 champion and 2nd runner-up, Alpha and aidlover respectively. While aidlover was given walkover victory for two continues rounds, his journey was ended by the tournament’s underdog, AKTemujin at Quarter Finals. Temujin continues his winning streak at Semi-Finals when he defeated another ror1k0n member, gamerholic with 2 - 1 score and booked himself a place in the finals.

Clanmates: [r0r1]Heavybolter and [r0r1]gamerholic

For the 3rd/4th place, gamerholic met his teammate Heavybolter who were defeated earlier by another teammate, Alpha in the Semi-Finals. This match was the longest of all matches with each round last slightly more than 10 minutes which is even longer than the grand finals. Gamerholic showed his superiety over his teammate with 2- 0 score.

At the grand final, a unique match between the underdog of the tournament and reigning national champion was set. Many hoped that the match would be an epic battle between both players but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Alpha pretty much showed that he’s still the best by ramming down Temujin’s winning streak against other r0r1k0n players with 2-0 score. That means Alpha is going home RM 1000 richer and also scored himself a trip to Singapore! Wohooo! :D

At the end of the day, it’s all worth it for these winners. Together with them is Diana Tan from EA Singapore.

The prize giving ceremony started soon after. Diana Tan, Marketing Manager of EA Singapore was at the event to present the winners with their rewards for being victorious at the tournament.

I can’t help but to hope that they would held this kind of event frequently and feature more games. Good game to everybody who made the event successful and all the best to [r0r1]Alpha at EA Play soon. Malaysia Boleh! :D
