GomTV Star Invitational League

Korean professional Starcraft league matches in English? Kidding me? No, I’m not. GomTV Star Invitational, a Starcraft superleague featuring 16 of the best Starcraft player that Korea can offer is being broadcast all over the world via web in English.

The 16 top-players players were chosen based on their Korea eSports Association (KeSPA) ranks and also their past accolades. With that, you get legends such as BoxeR, sAviOr and Jaedong (which are all in one group :o), competing in this tournament.

The person behind English shoutcast (that’s commentary to non-gamer speaker out there) is Nick “Tasteless” Plott, touted as the best RTS shoutcaster in the world. He have been shoutcasting all over the globe including WCG Grand Finals and right now, been living out his dream to shoutcast in South Korea for full time.

Apart from having the best players and the best shoutcaster, GomTV also went extra mile and invest lotsa dollars to boost their web broadcasting capabilities up to 40,000 simultanoues online viewers with streaming servers in US and Japan. Not enough with that, they have technicians standing by 24/7 to attend any server problems during the tournament. Talk about dedication!

I managed to catch one of the match this evening, although not for long as my connection decided to suck itself. The transmission quality is quite ok (when the line is good), just as the organizer claimed. Provided your connection are not like mine and not overloaded with other apps . If you missed the live match, you can always catch the VOD later.

There is still few more matches for today, so hit the site while the live match still on. Match starts daily at 5:00 pm Malaysian time.
