11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards

The Interactive Achievement Awards was an award organized by Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, an organization that serve to promote, communicate and advance the common interests in the worldwide entertainment software community (as written in their website, folks). The awards have been held since 1998. Yup, it has been around that long and the latest edition was held recently at 2008 D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit in Las Vegas.

There were around 26 accolades given away at the 11th annual award ceremony. Big winners of the night were Bioshock, Orange Box and Call of Duty 4 which each of them received 4 awards. But of all those awards, Call of Duty 4 managed to receive the big one, Overall Game of The Year award. Another GoTY trophy for CoD4, eh?

Apart from the games, there were also awards for two individuals on that night. Mike Morhaime, the president, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment was inducted into Hall of Fame and Ken Kutaragi, former president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
