80GB PlayStation 3 Is Going Off The Market?

No more 80GB for yah.
Last week, PS3Fanboy broke out the news that a memo is given to Best Buy’s staffs which to inform them that 80GB version of PlayStation 3 are being shelved off. That leave only the 40GB version available at the largest consumer electronic retailer in USA.
To those who not in the know, the 40GB version of PlayStation 3, although quite cheap (between RM 1200 - RM 1400 in our country), it lacks a number of features which included backward compatibility. Although this leaked memo only involved a single major retailer is US, the memo managed to give a bigger impression that this move will involve the whole 80GB production. It could be a blow to people that want their PS3 to able to play their old PS2 disks.
Of course, this news is not really a major concern for many of future PlayStation 3 owners in our country since there is a huge possiblity that they already have a PS2. After all, PlayStation 2 is now super cheap and still got a year or two in it’s shelf life.
