ESWC Add DotA + Q3, Suspend PES For 2008

Electronic Sports World Cup

Last week, Electronic Sports World Cup announced their second pool of official games for ESWC 2008. The popular team-based mod of Warcraft 3, Defence of the Ancients (DotA) and Quake 3 were added into 2008 official games. Previous titles included in the list was Counter Strike 1.6, Warcraft 3 and Trackmania Nations.

Meanwhile, one day before the announcement were mad, ESWC announced that they going to suspend Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) from ESWC 2008, much to the dissapoinment of fans. Reason given was the lack of response about licensing issues from global Konami decision makers . Perhaps, Konami spends too much time on Kojima + MGS4 already. You never know…

With this exciting progress, I predict that ESWC Malaysia is going to be revived again next year. Come on, there’s DotA mah…don’t tell me nobody *cough*gametournamentorganizers*cough* didn’t see some kind of opportunity here? Just make sure other official games are also is in the list, not only DotA alone. That would be a straight insult to our community.
