Rock Band - Guitar Hero Compatiblity Guide

Since Rock Band full package could easily cost you RM 700 - 900 when it arrive in Malaysia soon and the already available Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock price is over RM 300, it is natural for many of us to scratch our heads to find the most economical RB + GH3 package combination. Scratch no more people, the folks at Joystiq already wrote down the much needed guitar compatibility guide for both game.

According to the guide, the Xbox 360 Guitar Hero II X-plorer is compatible with GH II, GH III and RB making it the most economical solution of the problem. Meanwhile, Rock Band’s Fender Stratocasteris not compatible with both GH II and GH III. For PlayStation 3 owners…they have to get GH III and RB together since those guitars are not even compatible with each other. Should be no problem for them since PS3 owners generally have deep pockets*. Oh, snap!

Still, even though the full package option will empty out your pocket in a massive way, it is the best option to enjoy both games. Each package came with their own pro (wireless guitar rocks!) and cons, so in the end, only you (and your wallet) can decide.
