WGT 2007 Malaysia: Day 2 Summary

Welcome to yet another exciting day of World GameMaster Tournament 2007 Malaysian Championship. The tournament is now in Day 2 and it is even more intense than the opening day of the tournament. Since more teams and players have been eliminated from the tournament in Day 1, what left now are those who strong enough to get through the brackets. Also, the addition of Warcraft 3 tournament added more heat to the tournament.

Warcraft 3
Even with local pro Paul Yan and Battleangel who missed out WGT due to their DotA team’s committment at SMM DotA Nationals Grand Finals, the competition was still predictable as there are a few young and upcoming Warcraft player in the mix.
Leading the list were CT^Xrev_Serry and Pin’ who flawlessly booked themselves a place in the Finals. Meanwhile, fallen semi finalists ChoboNope and MeHardlyLearn will decide between themselves for 3rd/4th place position.
Need For Speed Carbon
For Carbon,the competition continued from where they left on Friday. Top 16 matches were played up till the Semi-Finals. The usual NFS veterans such as FoRza, M1-Heaven, mav3, mootsumi and incontrolz went into the final eight list without any problem. Together with them is a number of new faces such as redbull_y2k and pinkfoxazry.
In the Top 8 single elimination stage, things went well for FoRza and M1-Heaven as they were not drew together in the first round and uniquely, both of them ended at both end of the table. They were then met by Syefri Zulkefli and mav3 in the Semi-Finals after both of them eliminated redbull_y2k and pinkfoxazry respectively. As expected, both FoRza and Heaven went through to the finals. This should be their third Finals match this year as both of them were on top on the table during CELgames and WCG Malaysia.
Both the finals and 3rd/4th placing match between mav3 and Syefri Zulkefli will take place today.
FIFA’07
From 128 players, we were finally down to 32 players which later further goes down to eight players. This stage saw [W|nDs]Lo0n4tic decreased form dropped even further as [MyFES]Warrior beat him with a big margin during quarter final. But in semi final, Warrior winning streak were stopped by the mighty [W|nDs]Si_jali, repeating what Si_jali had did to him during WCG Malaysia FIFA’07 finals.
Joining Si_jali in the finals would be his fellow clanmate, [W|nDs]vin who have eliminated Brot and [W|nDs]Diospada in quarter final and semi final respectively. Simultaneously, Warrior and Diospada will decide 3rd/4th placing.
Counter Strike 1.6
One of the top story from CS island would be the match between PwyH.BW and Natural Ones in Round 2 of Loser’s Bracket. The map was de_dust2, a map that give more advantage to Terrorist side and for the first half, that advantage were given to Natural Ones. They took the advantage to the fullness storming PwyH up till 14 - 1. But when second half resumed, PwyH.BW returned the favor up till the score were 0 - 13. Things already looking good for them as they need to win 2 more rounds.
Victory were not meant to be for PwyH though as Natural Ones made a comeback in the final 2 rounds, leaving PwyH biting their fingers. But Natural Ones didn’t manage to get continue their winning streak as XsM then beat them comfortably in the next round.
Another highlight of the day was KL Taufan vs Hybrid in Winner’s Bracket finals. As you might know, KL Taufan’s have two former Hybrid members, Syntax and Sniggy. Both of them left the team right after WCG Malaysia to join the then-FMJ for CGS Malaysia Qualifier. So, things were quite hot during the match.
A lot of crowd members cheering for Hybrid and players provoking each other especially between Hybrid|fions, Hybrid|Stain! and Taufan|Sniggy. At the end of the match, Hybrid overcome Taufan with a landslide victory of 16 - 5 forcing Taufan into Loser’s Bracket.
Taufan will have their last chance to get back at Hybrid only and if only they can beat XsM in Loser’s Bracket Finals today.
