The Halo 3 Pre-Release Interview With Gamer’s Hideout

Gamer’s Hideout

Gamer’s Hideout at Cineleisure Mutiara Damansara, PJ have been the forerunner of Xbox 360 community in Malaysia since they opened their outlet a year ago. They also have been very agressive in promoting original games, not only among local 360 owners but to the whole console scene. In such a short time, their effort have been recognized by MSC’s Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).

Since Halo 3 is coming out in 4 days time and not to forget GH’s extremely exclusive Halo 3 Mega Screen Experience event are also set to happen soon in conjunction with their 1st anniversary, I believe there’s no better time to have a lil chit chat with Eddy Yap, one of the dudes at Gamer’s Hideout. Dive in for the interview!

Eddy Yap of Gamer’s Hideout
This is Eddy. He loves to play games. He can kick your butt in Halo 2 and he even can answer questions without letting go his gamepad.

Chapree:
So dude, how’s business? How many Halo 3 pre-orders did you guys got?

Eddy:
Ok la, not bad, since Bioshock have finally arrived in our shop (what a relief!), things have been good so far.

Halo 3 pre-orders are doing quite well. The number of orders already met our expectation but we hope that we can have few more before we close the pre-order this weekend.

Chapree:
From I’ve seen so far, Halo 3 are already set to be biggest title of the year for 360. Is there anything that could stop them?

Eddy:
Personally, I think the chances are very-very low. The real question is how long the game will last.

If you follow Halo 2 stats, even now, after 3 years, there’s around half a million matches were played online daily. Halo 3 shouldn’t have problem to overcome those numbers, especially in multiplayer aspect but since it’s not yet out, we can’t be too sure.

Chapree:
Is there any worthy games for 360 after the release of Halo 3?

Eddy:
Hmmm, that’s a very tough question. Actually, to think of it, there are a lot of worthy games coming to 360 after this. These days it is very hard to see games like Backyard Baseball to be in next gen lineup. To develop games are not cheap these days. Because of that, the developer will always make sure that their games are worthy to be played.

Chapree:
LOL, Backyard Baseball. Do you have any titles in mind then?

Eddy:
Well, there’s Call of Duty 4…then Mass Effect, Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, Lost Odyssey…and tons of others!

Halo 3 Mega Screen Experience custom made USMC folder bag
This exclusive custom made UNSC folder bag are just one of the door gift at Halo 3 Mega Screen Experience. Remember, you saw it first at Multiplay.

Chapree:
Let’s talk about the upcoming Halo 3 Mega Screen Experience. What is it all about?

Eddy:
The original conception of the event are meant for the Xbox 360 community, especially for Halo fanboys and XBL community. Then we twist the concept a bit. Instead of making it a 360 community event, we want the event as a platform to promote original gaming. With that event, we want to get people noticed that Malaysia have potential and growing gaming culture.

We are so lucky to have MDeC to help us. They supported us in a lot of aspect such as event planning and government endorsement.

Chapree:
Which console FPS game do you guys think will be in tournaments next year? Halo 3 or still Gears of War?

Eddy:
Fuh, another tough question! I believe Halo 3 will be on top but Gears will still be played in tournaments.

Chapree:
Do you expect WCG Malaysia to finally offer consoles games next year?

Eddy:
Hard to say because till now, we still don’t know whether Malaysia will get official launch of any consoles. Without those official launch, I doubt we are going to have consoles in any local tournament, not only WCG Malaysia.

Chapree:
Talking about tournaments…when you guys going to have another one?

Eddy:
We already planning it but of course, we cannot reveal much about it. Just wait for the updates ;)

Chapree:
Can ban Blake (of GameAxis Malaysia) from your future tournaments or not?

Eddy:
Yeah, sure! Why not? LOL

Eddy of GH and Blake of GameAxis
You know why I want Blake (on the right) to be banned from tournaments? He’s here at GH practicing his l337 skills next to us during the interview! Crazy one! Ok la, I admit I’m still damn emo that he headshot me in CS recently. :(

Chapree:
Ok, trivia time! Among GH people, who have the most percentage of team kills?

Eddy:
Bobby of course! XD *Bobby showed no reaction because he’s fully concentrating on Bioshock*

Chapree:
LOL. You so bad liao. Next question! Who do you think should potray Master Chief in a movie?

Eddy:
Mmm…Tom Hanks maybe? Seriously I can’t think of anyone else.

Chapree:
LOL, WHY?? He have no muscles!

Eddy:
LOL, I just saying only. The thing is the helmet and the suit are the icons of Halo series, so I’m sure if there’s a Halo movie, they will not reveal who is behind the suit.

Chapree:
Good point. Ok, last but not least, who’s the prettiest gamer around? Come on, tell us!

Eddy:
Wah lau, it’s hard to find a girl gamer around but whoever she is, definately not Hezra!! XD
(Chap: I’m not responsible for this answer! Anything, target Eddy!)

Chapree:
On behalf of Multiplay, thanks for your time, Eddy! Please pick my name in the next lucky draw ok? :D

Eddy:
You wish! :P

By the way, I got the invite to play Halo 3 on 300″ screen courtesy of the guys at GH. Are you among the lucky ones? No? Too bad then…but it’s ok, I’ll post pretty pics of Master Chief after the event, okies? :D
