2005 Sky ProLeague Grand Final. It’s normal to see such a large number of audience at a major Starcraft event in South Korea. Original Image: FighterForum.com
Everybody knows that Starcraft is a national sport in South Korea. Millions of other games around the world want to be like their pro-gamers: to be rich, adorned by fans and envied by others. But do you know how it looks like from the eyes of their top players? PC Gamer got the answers. Some excerpts from the article:
” They barely show emotion - even when they win. To succeed at Starcraft you can never allow yourself to lose focus. You must devote almost all your waking hours to practice; you need to become a game-playing machine. “
It is crazy! Our pros train hard as well but not till the extent of being robots. Koreans are insane for sure. XD
This one sentence from the article also holds true for our scene though - “Most pro gamers survive on almost nothing, kept going only by dreams of stardom and their love of the game,”. Except our stardom is nothing compared to Korean stadom. Maybe CGS can change that? XD

ROFL!!!!!!!!!
Since when did we have pros in our country?
Our country didnt have any professional league or even a semi-pro league.
To me its not crazy, its what professional do, sports or e-sports. Pls cut the robot s**t.
Most gamers in our are not even a semi-professional gamers, thats why no need to train hard.
Chapree: Are YOU crazy? Even in other sports, their #1 player doesn’t train for 13 hours per day.
Don’t underestimate our gamers, many does train almost as hard as their Korean counterparts, easily clocking 6-10 hours per day.

Of course they wont practice 13 hours in real sports, ppl will die if they did that.
Which part above i said, i underestimate our gamers?
Im just telling the truth, none of our gamers are professional(only few are exceptions).
Professional = doing it full-time and getting money for it.
Pls name me 10 ppl in Malaysia that play game full-time.
Malaysians tend to label anyone good at particular game as pro gamer.
I think you’re the one who underestimate the level of Korean BW scene.
Seriously its a shame for someone who writes for our local e-sports scene labelling them as “robots”, that is determination and discipline brother. Human are still human. In the end will feel tired and get boring playing 10 hours a day, Koreans or not.
These ppl sacrifice other responsibilities in their life to excel in the one thing they like the most. To me that is “Professionalism”.
You think one article explains everything about Korean BW scene.
I follow Korean BW scene, i watch live starcraft games and i can say the scene is more than that.
I hope next time you compliment them, not label them as robot.
Chapree: Shame or not, I’m not budging from my view. Whether you like or not.
By the way, I’m NOT underestimating them in anyway. They are THE GREATEST. Nobody can deny that.
