WCG Malaysia 2007: The Heat So Far…
August 22, 2007 by Chapree
Only 16 days left before the country’s biggest annual gamefest, WCG Malaysia 2007 begins. So far, the registration have been overwhelming. Except for Need For Speed Carbon, all participants slot have been filled to the brim. Starcraft and Warcraft were the firsts to finish given the limited 32 players slot but who would have thought that FIFA’07 128 players slot were fully filled in less than 2 weeks?

Meanwhile, the battle for glory have started for Counter-Strike players. The first campaign begins at WCG Malaysia 2007 Kick-Off in FMJ Cybercafe, SS2 Petaling Jaya. In the finals, the newly reformed FMJ met last year champion, Team Hybrid. FMJ emerged as the winner in what can be considered as the battle of two giants. FMJ.Espada took the third place.

The second campaign took place at Winter Night, Klang last Sunday. As predicted, a number of top teams made it way to Klang, headed by DiV who denied FMJ.Espada second attempt to qualify as WCG Malaysia 2007 Quarter Finalist. Apart from getting the WCG Malaysia 2007 Top 8 spot, DiV also went back home RM 500 richer, courtesy from Winter Night as a reward for the winner. PWYH, another top contender, settled for 3rd place.

The third team who made it into WCG Malaysia were MNG with straight landslide victories against all their opponents at eXc Cybercafe, Pudu, KL few days ago. The highest score that their opponents managed to score are…one. OMG!
2nd place were A7X and 3rd place belongs to Deathly.

MNG - WCG Malaysia 2007 CS 1.6 Cybercafe Qualifier #3 Winner
CS players have 2 more chance to get to Quarter Finals before the actual tournament starts; Qualifier #4 at TBun Nilai and Qualifier #5 at TBun Wangsa Maju. As for the rest of us, it’s only 2 more weeks before D-Day. Are you ready to challenge the road to Seattle?
