Last week, Samsung Malaysia formally announced its continuous support to World Cyber Games Malaysia Championship 2007. Samsung Electronics, their parent company have been supporting World Cyber Games since its beginning in 2000 as the worldwide sponsor. This year marked the 6th year of sponsorship deal between Samsung and WCG Malaysia.

According to Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd Marketing General Manager, Mr Jimmy Tan, Samsung has consistently supported WCG since 2000 as a platform for them to connect with youth through their product and technologies that are able to enhance gaming experience. With this sponsorship confirmation, participants of WCG Malaysia in September later will be provided with latest monitors from Samsung’s Syncmater lineup. About 300 monitors will be used during WCG Malaysia 2007 at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre from 8th till 9th September 2007.

For this year’s WCG Malaysia, Samsung have planned a number of activities for both gamers and non-gamers alike such as:-

  • Exciting activities at their booth with giveaways for visitors.
  • Special offer on their latest MP3 player, the ultra slim U3 for booth visitors.
  • Online microsite at Samsung Malaysia’s site with games and downloadable vouchers redeemable at Samsung’s booth during the event.

Together with the announcement held at FMJ SS2 Petaling Jaya, members of media were treated to WCG Malaysia 2007 preview - a mini tournament against each other. Needless to say, game journalists pretty much pwning ahead the rest *ehem*. Blake Hoo, editor of GameAxis Malaysia emerged as the mini competition winner with his imbalanced CT team. Imbalance I tell you, IMBA!! XD

Wide range of activities for gamers and non-gamers

Petaling Jaya, 9 August 2007 – Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd today formally announced its continued sponsorship of the World Cyber Games Malaysia Championship 2007. Its parent company, Samsung Electronics is the worldwide sponsor of the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2007 since 2000.

In conjunction with the much-anticipated Malaysia Championship on 8-9 September 2007, Mid Valley Exhibition Hall, Samsung has lined up an exciting range of activities for gamers and non-gamers alike to pursue their passions through WCG, including:

  • a special offer for Samsung’s latest super-slim U3 MP3 player for the visitors at its booth
  • exciting activities for visitors at the booth with prizes to be given away.
  • an online microsite that incorporates a game and downloadable vouchers to redeem exclusive Samsung premiums at its booth during the Malaysia Championship. More updates will be available at www.samsung.com/my

Samsung has been the worldwide sponsor of the World Cyber Games since 2000, and the Asian Championships since its inauguration last year. The sponsorship is part of the company’s continuous efforts to nurture relationships and build brand preference among youth who are early adopters of technology, and cyber gamers who are technology opinion leaders.

Participants of WCG Malaysia Championship have always enjoyed playing the games with Samsung’s state-of-the-art Syncmaster monitors. This year, there will be about 300 units of Samsung’s Syncmaster monitors at the finals, offering exceptional gaming experience to the participants.

In Singapore, Samsung recently launched a special WCG 2007 Asian Championship web portal. Samsung conceived, co-developed and sponsored this portal that offers regular leagues and online contests. With this portal, both casual and hardcore gamers are able to get into the thick of the gaming action all year long:

    Chapree: Hahaha, I’m sorry to dissapoint you. Apparently, they didn’t dodge bullets and stuff…as far as I remembers of course (was too busy covering my own bum from Blake’s attack). A number of them does play CS frequently XD
