After Microsoft, now it’s Nintendo’s turn to brief the media (more to everybody, actually). Santa Monica Civic Auditorium have been chosen as the stage by the creator of Mario and Link to showcase what they had for gamers this year. Oh, to also boast how DS and Wii performance doing since previous year.

- Wii Zapper! We already saw it a while ago and finally, they are going to release it. Packaged together with a game for USD 19.99. They said it was designed for FPS (duh!) but how soon they going to release it?

- Release date announcement:

  • Brain Age 2: 20th August (US)
  • Super Mario Galaxy: 12th November (US)
  • Super Smash Bros Brawl: 3rd December (US)

- Mario Kart for Wii: will be out on the first quarter of 2008, plus online capability. It will come packaged with a cute lil custom steering wheel as well.

- Zelda: Phantom Hourglass took full advantage of touch screen on DS. With a stylus, you can put memos on the map, move Link around, go around menus, swing his swords and more. Pretty good experience.

- The new visor system in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption looked pretty awesome - the ability to change your view on the fly. The game will also feature lock-on free aiming and hyper mode.

- New channel for Wii users: Check Mii Out. Something like Myspace for your Mii’s.

- Miyamoto finally appeared to announce a new game. Not Mario or Zelda but Wii Fit! Basically a fitness-based game, it goes together with their own step pad called Wii Balance Board, similiar looking like the ones at gym except way smaller and as usual, wireless. Reggie became the test subject and *suprise* he’s overweight. LOL.

Conclusion: To me, there’s nothing much really from Nintendo camp. Except the Zapper. It’s so damn cool looking. Wii Fit really belong to where Nintendo want Wii to be played, the living room. Wii will definately make gaming even more healthy and I believe that soon, Wii will start to appear at gyms and also fitness center near you.

Two down, one to go. It’s Sony turns next!
