At the recent Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), two gaming giants announced some good news for Mac users. First, Electronic Arts chief creative officer, Bing Gordon announced that several of their blockbuster games will be ported to Mac OS X starting July this year. Gordon also announced that they will also release future major games to Mac OS simultaneously with other platform.

Among the EA titles that will be available to Mac OS X this coming July are: Battlefield 2142, Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix and Need For Speed Carbon. The nearest future title that already confirmed for OS X release will be Madden NFL 08 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08, coming soon in August. According to another press release, all this transaction were made possible using TransGaming’s Cider engine which work as an interpreter between the game’s original code and the Intel Mac. With that said, I believe these game are not for PowerPC-based Mac.

Next up, id Software uber leader John Carmack, showed off a technical demo dubbed “id Tech 5” from their new game engine that will power all future id’s game. Apart from the stunning demo, Carmack also announced that they will unveiled a new game that are yet to be titled at E3 Media & Business Summit next month. Plus, he also promised that between E3 and QuakeCon’07, there will be another announcement specifically for Mac.

Honestly, gamers and Mac doesn’t go along well. There’s simply not enough games on Mac. No, Zuma and Bejewelled doesn’t count la auntie and yes, I know DotA can be played on Mac *rolleyes*. What I mean is bunch of other amazing AAA games that us, PC users got to enjoy everyday. Well, things might change for good with this announcements then.
