May 31, 2007 by Chapree

Over the last weekend, 64 virtual footballers tested out their trick and skills at Ogawa Virtual Football Challenge. Held at The Curve for 3 days in conjunction with Ogawa roadshow, the game of the choice was Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007.
The setup featured the the PC version of WEPES’07, a gamepad, a big screen plasma TV and Ogawa X-Chair. As for tournament format, Friday and Saturday were strictly for qualifying which 8 top players from each proceed to final stage on Sunday.
At the end of the tournament, the top 3 players emerged victorious in their battle. The winners for Ogawa Virtual Football Challenge were as below:-
Champion: RM 800 + Ogawa X-Chair worth RM 699
1st Runner Up: RM 500 + Ogawa X-Chair worth RM 699
2nd Runner Up: RM 300 + Ogawa X-Chair worth RM 699
The driving force behind this successful event is Mun Wai. A very active WE player, he held several honors in local WE/PES circle including ESWC Malaysia 2004 Champion and also actively organize mini-tournament at his shop near Taman Maluri, KL. He managed to convince Ogawa to support this event in conjunction with the showcase of Ogawa’s new X-Chair.
According to Mun Wai, Ogawa are pretty happy with the event turnout and there is a high possibility that the event will return again in a bigger scale. Certainly, such a support by multinational company outside the IT industry in gaming events will be a much welcomed boost to the local eSports scene.
Congratulations to the organizer, winners and all participants that made Ogawa Virtual Football Challenge a success. Check out pictures that available at the gallery through the link below and see you guys next time!
